Planetary Renaissance

from the Ocean

Section Guide

This presentation is based on a slideshow illustrating the Planetary Renaissance from the Ocean Main Text. That text contains calculations and descriptions not discussed here and is the intellectual property of the Rainmaker Ozeania Association.

Natural Fertility

It is proposed here that th land is best regenerated from the ocean.

Global Healing show how these elements can be combined most beneficially to make deserts bloom.

Desalination

Making deserts bloom might begin with desalinating SW in very quantities very cheaply. Several concepts are introduced in this item that are needed to understand those that follow.

Piping Ocean Products Inland

Desalinated water and other ocean products can be brought to inland locations with underwater and aerial pipelines. They have other uses:

- preventing and extinguishing forest fires

- attenuating cyclones

- clearing smog out of city air and keeping cities cool and clean in summer.

- preventing the spread of some diseases and clearing some sols, powder suspensions, and gasses out of the air.

- protecting populations from airborne bio- and toxico- weapons.

The Amniotic Ocean

Water is necessary, but not sufficient to make deserts bloom. Very large quantities of CO2 can be fixed into marine biomass with sea ploughs. A part of this biomass can be eaten. The rest is fermented anaerobically to fertilizer and fuel (bio-CH4). The fertilizer is mixed into irrigation water. The fuel can be burnt. That part of the C from fixed CO2 that remains in new biomass - on reforested deserts for instance, is removed from the atmosphere. CO2 released by burning bio-CH4 does not add to atmospheric CO2 load because it came from the atmosphere.

It is thus possible to fix all excess CO2 in the atmosphere and produce all the useful energy the world needs without fossil or nuclear fuels and without adding any CO2 to the atmosphere. Reforesting deserts would be a side benefit.

Sea ploughs also make it possible to live on and farm the oceans for salt and fresh water plants and animals and to establish plant and animal sanctuaries there and on land.

The Wealthy Ocean

Reforesting deserts will require more than water and fertilizer.

The ocean and its floor contain much wealth - ore, fertilizer, gas and oil deposits. Methods are discussed for raising these to the surface efficiently and cheaply. A simple new process for reducing metals out of ores is proposed that releases no pollution, and might yield, rather than consume, useful energy.

Sea-curity

Most 'natural' disasters are mostly man-made. But, as shown in consequences, nature is quite capable of unleashing furies of her own if we do not restore the earth's living cover - soon. But those organizations that now acquire vast wealth from their control of money, energy and murder, engineering shortages, booms, busts and wars are not likely to relinquish their powers voluntarily.

When storm clouds threaten or the winds or war begin to blow, the ocean could be the safest place on earth.
